Monte Cimone (2,165 m) is the highest peak in Emilia-Romagna and in the northern Apennines. The summit observatory has been monitoring climate for decades. The view encompasses the Po plain, the Alps (Po plain to Alps on clear days), Tuscany and the Adriatic. The Eurasian lynx has been confirmed in the Cimone area (camera trap 2021) — expanding from the Alps. Wolf is well-established.
