Monte Chiampon, Prealpi Carniche

Monte Chiampon (1,703 m) above the Tagliamento valley near Tolmezzo gives one of the widest views in Friuli — Carnian Alps, Julian Alps, the Friulian plain and on clear days the Adriatic lagoon near Venice. The approach from Amaro passes through old silver fir and beech. Roe deer and chamois are both common. The summit cross is a fixed landmark on the Friulian plain below.
