Monte Carmo di Loano, Savona

Monte Carmo (1,389 m) above Loano is the highest accessible summit in the Ligurian Prealps of the Savona hinterland. The summit ridge gives simultaneous views of the Ligurian Sea (5 km south) and the Po plain (40 km north). The approach through the Val Varatella crosses Mediterranean maquis that transitions to alpine meadow in 700 m of elevation. Wolf is resident in the surrounding park since 2014.
