Monte Calvo, Gargano

Puglia

At 1,055 m, Monte Calvo ("bald mountain") lives up to its name — a rounded karst top of thin grass and grey rock, its sinkholes and shepherds' huts the only features. Tracks climb from the Foresta Umbra or the Sant'Egidio plain, and the summit looks over the whole Gargano from the lakes of Lesina and Varano to the sea cliffs.
