Monte Calvi di Campiglia

Archaeological trails wind through this hill's Etruscan and medieval mine workings, where copper was extracted for over two thousand years before the last mines closed in the 20th century. Mediterranean scrub now covers slag heaps and old shaft openings, and interpretive panels mark the mining archaeology park's route. From the summit, the view stretches over the Val di Cornia to Elba and the Tuscan archipelago.
