Monte Calvi, Campiglia Marittima

Monte Calvi (476 m) above Campiglia Marittima is an ancient Etruscan mining landscape — copper, silver and iron were extracted here from 800 BC to the 20th century. The mining trails cross open gariga with wild orchids in March–April. The panorama from the summit encompasses the Tyrrhenian Sea, Elba, Capraia and on clear days Corsica. Mining heritage is visible throughout — pits, slag heaps and 19th-century machinery.
