Monte Brento (1,712 m) above Corniglio near Parma is the highest summit in the Parma Apennines and the site of one of the few legal base-jumping cliffs in Italy — the east face drops 300 m. Italian wolf pack confirmed on the summit plateau. Golden eagle. The beech forest below has capercaillie (rare this far west). The Ceno valley below is mediaeval Longobard territory. Dogs off-leash.
