Monte Argentario is a promontory connected to the Tuscan mainland by two sandy spits — once an island, now connected. Spanish watchtowers crown its highest points; macchia maquis covers the slopes. The circuit above Porto Santo Stefano crosses the peninsula's spine with views to Giglio, Giannutri and the Maremma coast.
