Monte Albo (1,127 m) near Siniscola in Nuoro province is an isolated Jurassic limestone reef rising from the Sardinian hinterland — geologically completely different from the surrounding schist. The isolation has produced 40 endemic plant species. Bonelli's eagle and peregrine both nest. The summit ridge gives views from the Gulf of Orosei to the Gennargentu. Mouflon are common on the rocky slopes.
