Monte Acuto, Gualdo Tadino

Umbria

Monte Acuto (1,266 m) above Gualdo Tadino marks the Umbria-Marche watershed ridge. Wolf packs denning in the beech forest above 900 m are regularly tracked. The beech forest on the eastern slope is old enough for black woodpecker. On exceptionally clear autumn days the Adriatic Sea is visible from the summit. The approach through the village of Fossato di Vico passes a Roman aqueduct.
