Mondavio's Rocca Roveresca, designed by the military architect Francesco di Giorgio Martini, is considered one of the best-preserved examples of Renaissance fortification built specifically to counter the new threat of cannon artillery. The grounds around it give a view over the gentle hills of the Cesano valley.
