Saepinum — Roman Town, Molise
Molise
Saepinum near Sepino is the most complete surviving Roman provincial town in Italy — and almost completely unknown. The forum, theatre, amphitheatre and city walls are all standing, but living farmers use the Roman streets as paths and park tractors next to the monuments. Sheep still pass through the ancient gates during transhumance.
