Marina di Pulsano — Mar Piccolo

Puglia

The Mar Piccolo (Small Sea) of Taranto is a unique geographic phenomenon — a semi-enclosed sea within the Ionian, connected by narrow straits. Greek Taras (founded 706 BC) used it as a natural harbour; today mussel and oyster farming continues exactly as it did in antiquity. The shoreline walk reveals both the industrial port and the crystal inner sea.
