Riserva Naturale Litorale Romano, Focene

Lazio

The Riserva Naturale Statale del Litorale Romano protects the last natural dune and coastal forest strip near Rome — 15 km of coastline between the Tiber mouth and Focene. Stone pine forest 100+ years old lines the coast. Little tern, kentish plover and black-winged stilt nest on the beach. Wild boar roam the pine forest at night — tracks visible every morning. 30 minutes from central Rome.
