The Duna Feniglia is a narrow sand spit (7 km × 500 m) connecting Monte Argentario to the Maremma coast, covered in Mediterranean pine forest. Fallow deer (200+ individuals) live freely in the forest and approach walkers without fear. No vehicles are allowed. The Laguna di Orbetello on the north side is a flamingo and spoonbill stronghold. The Tyrrhenian beach on the south side is wild and shell-rich.
