Malga Vezzena, Altopiano di Asiago
Trentino-Alto Adige
The Altopiano di Asiago was the site of some of the most intense Austro-Italian fighting in WWI — the plateau at 1,400 m has Austrian and Italian trenches still facing each other across the meadows, some only 50 m apart. The Malga Vezzena is a working high pasture where the traditional Asiago cheese (DOP) is still made in summer. Golden eagle overhead. Dogs off-leash on the plateau.
