Madonie — Piano Battaglia

Piano Battaglia (1,600 m) in the Parco delle Madonie is the highest plateau in Sicily's Tyrrhenian range. The park has 60 endemic species — the Abies nebrodensis (Nebrodi fir) has only 30 surviving trees in the world, all in this park. Golden eagle nests on the limestone summits. The Madonie Norman-Arab hill villages (Petralia, Polizzi Generosa) surround the park. Dogs welcome in the park.
