Lucca — Le Mura di Lucca

Lucca's 16th–17th century walls were never breached in battle and survive as a complete, 4 km circuit, converted in the 19th century into a broad tree-lined promenade walkable — or cyclable — the whole way around the city on top of the ramparts. It's flat, shaded and among the most pleasant urban walks in Tuscany.
