Spiaggia di Pellestrina, Venice

Veneto

The Lido di Pellestrina is a 12 km barrier island between Venice and Chioggia — on one side the Venice lagoon, on the other the Adriatic. The Murazzi, a 14 km stone sea wall built 1744–1782, is one of the greatest 18th-century engineering works in the world. The beach is wide and sandy. Loggerhead turtle nests here occasionally. Dogs welcome year-round on most of the beach.
