Riserva Naturale Les Îles, Brissogne
Aosta Valley
Where the Dora Baltea was quarried for gravel, the pits have filled and revegetated into a mosaic of lakes, reed and willow carr protected as a reserve. Flat gravel paths and boardwalks with hides loop the water, drawing herons, grebes, ospreys on passage and, in the pond, terrapins — an easy, level walk close to the motorway.
