Le Castella

Calabria

This beach sits within Italy's largest marine protected area, the Riserva Marina di Capo Rizzuto, with an Aragonese castle standing on a rocky islet connected to shore by a narrow causeway. Posidonia seagrass meadows just offshore support a rich variety of fish, making it popular with snorkellers as well as sunbathers. The shallow, clear water and gentle slope make it especially suitable for families with children.
