The lame are the Adriatic Murgia's answer to the gravine: broad, flat-bottomed erosion channels, greener and cooler than the plain, once used as roads and farmland. Lama San Giorgio near Rutigliano keeps olive groves, drystone walls, rock-cut cisterns and small rupestrian chapels along an easy walking route.
