From Barrea a steady path climbs through beech and then open pasture into the cirque below Monte Greco, where the Pantaniello — a shallow, ice-scooped pool ringed by turf — sits at almost 1,800 m. Strong walkers carry on to the 2,285 m summit and its view over the Marsica and the PNALM.
