Lago Miserin

Lago Miserin sits in a stark glacial bowl at the head of Val di Champorcher, its dark waters overlooked by a small stone sanctuary first documented in the 17th century and still the site of an annual summer pilgrimage. The approach climbs steadily through larch forest and open pasture grazed by cattle through the warmer months. Marmots colonize the boulder fields ringing the lake, and the surrounding ridges offer routes toward several 3,000-metre summits.
