Lago delle Lame

Liguria

Lago delle Lame occupies a small glacial hollow within the Parco dell'Aveto, its dark, peat-stained water and surrounding sphagnum bog feeling more like a Scottish moor than the nearby Riviera. The trail continues up to Monte Aiona's bare, boulder-strewn summit, whose exposed ophiolite rock gives sweeping views from the sea to the Apennine crest. Wolves have been confirmed denning in the surrounding forest in recent years.
