Created in the 1970s by damming the Biferno, this long, winding reservoir now supports a modest population of herons and other waterbirds along its shallow arms. The hill town of Guardialfiera looks down over the water from its ridge, and quiet dirt tracks follow parts of the shoreline for an easy walk.
