Lago di Vico fills a perfect volcanic caldera in the Monti Cimini, a nature reserve of beech and hazel forest. The flat circuit follows the lake shore through reed beds and chestnut groves. The surrounding hills were Rome's main source of hazelnuts for centuries and still produce Nocciola Romana DOP.
