Lago di Ridracoli (557 m) in the Foreste Casentinesi National Park is a reservoir built in 1982 — but the surrounding park has been a protected zone for decades and the water is exceptionally clear (15 m visibility). Osprey fishes regularly in autumn. Peregrine nests on the dam structure. The forest above is old-growth beech and silver fir. The circuit path is entirely within the national park.
