Lago di Resia — Torre Sommersa

The Lago di Resia (1,498 m) is a reservoir created in 1950 by flooding the villages of Curon and Resia. The bell tower of the 14th-century church of Curon Venosta still stands 25 m above the lake surface — one of the most photographed images in Italy. In winter the lake sometimes freezes allowing a walk to the tower. The surrounding valley leads to the Resia pass at 1,504 m.
