Piana del Mingardo, Cilento
Campania
The Piana del Mingardo between Centola and Palinuro is the most intact river valley in the Cilento National Park — the Mingardo runs undammed and unembankmented through alluvial forest. Otter is present throughout. The riverside has the oldest olive trees in Campania — some more than 1,000 years old. Wild cyclamens cover the forest floor in autumn. Almost completely unvisited.
