Lago di Lolair, Arnad

Lago di Lolair (612 m) near Arnad in the lower Aosta Valley is a moraine lake ringed by vineyards producing the Donnas DOC red wine. The lake is warm enough to swim from June to September. Little grebe breeds. The surrounding slopes are cultivated with nebbiolo (the same grape as Barolo) in steep terraced vineyards. The village of Arnad is famous for its lard (Lard d'Arnad DOP) cured in brine.
