Lago di Loie

Above Cogne, in the shadow of the Gran Paradiso massif, Lago di Loie is small enough and remote enough to see only a trickle of the visitors drawn to the valley's more famous waterfalls. Larch forest gives way to open pasture as the trail climbs, and ibex are a common sight on the surrounding slopes. The still water gives a clean reflection of the peaks on calm mornings.
