Lago di Gerosa, Monti Sibillini

Marche

Lago di Gerosa (1,430 m) in the Monti Sibillini National Park on the Marche side is a glacial lake in a high cirque. Golden eagle is resident on the surrounding ridge. Apennine chamois was reintroduced here in 2015 and is now established. The lake is small but the surrounding scenery is dramatic — vertical Sibillini limestone walls above the glacial hollow. Dogs off-leash.
