Laghi di Fusine, Tarvisio

The Laghi di Fusine — Lago Superiore and Lago Inferiore — are twin glacial lakes below Monte Mangart (2,679 m) near Tarvisio. The water is turquoise from glacial melt; the Mangart's rocky east face reflects in the upper lake. The UNESCO Geopark of the Julian Alps covers this area. The circuit walk passes ancient spruce and larch forest; roe deer are regularly seen. One of the most beautiful lake settings in the Carnian Alps.
