Lago di Corbara, Terni

Umbria

Lago di Corbara between Orvieto and Todi is a reservoir on the Tiber in a landscape of volcanic tufa cliffs — the Amerini hills above are covered in oak and hazel. Osprey fishing in spring and autumn migration. Kingfisher on every inlet. Grey heron and cormorant colony on the wooded island. The tufa cliffs on the east shore are remarkable geology — the same Orvietan tufa that Etruscan tombs were carved into. Dogs welcome.
