Reached by a stiff climb from Palafavera or Alleghe, this small lake sits at over 2100m in a stark, rocky bowl directly under Civetta's 1000-metre west face, one of the great walls of the Dolomites. Snow patches often linger into July, and the adjacent refuge is a popular stop on the Alta Via 1 long-distance trail.
