Lago di Cei, Brentonico
Trentino-Alto Adige
Lago di Cei (836 m) on the Brentonico plateau above the eastern shore of Lake Garda is a small moraine-dammed lake surrounded by spruce-fir forest with sphagnum bog margins — unusual in the pre-Alps. Black woodpecker in the forest. The lake has a tiny beach on the north shore. Roe deer drink at dusk. The contrast between this dark mountain lake and Lake Garda below (visible 15 minutes' walk away) is extraordinary. Dogs welcome.
