Lago di Bolsena

Lago di Bolsena fills the largest volcanic caldera in Europe, 114 km² of warm water on the Via Francigena pilgrimage route. Two inhabited islands (Bisentina and Martana) sit in the middle. Bolsena town was site of the 1263 Corpus Christi miracle that inspired a Raphael fresco in the Vatican.
