Oasi WWF Lago di Alviano

Umbria

This WWF reserve formed behind a hydroelectric dam on the Tiber south of Todi, and the shallow, reed-lined water now draws herons, egrets, cormorants and wintering ducks in large numbers. Boardwalks and hides let you get close without disturbing the birds. The surrounding poplar woods flood seasonally, creating a mosaic of wetland habitat rare this far from the coast.
