Lago del Moncenisio — Lato Piemontese
Piedmont
The Moncenisio reservoir (1,974 m) was created in 1969 flooding Napoleon's famous road over the pass. The Piedmontese shore is less visited than the French side. The endemic Berardia lanuginosa (Moncenisio woolly daisy) grows only here and at one site in France. The old Napoleonic road sections still visible above the waterline make for an unusual historical walk.
