Lago degli Idoli & the source of the Arno, Monte Falterona
Tuscany
On the beech-cloaked crest of the Casentino forest, the small Lago degli Idoli was an Etruscan sacred spring — over 600 bronze figurines and 2,000 coins came out of its mud. A ridge path links it to the Capo d'Arno spring, the Falterona summit (1,654 m) and the Gorga Nera pool, in the national park.
