The two Avigliana lakes (Grande and Piccolo) fill glacial moraine basins at the foot of the Valsusa. The Sacra di San Michele monastery (10th century) looms on its rocky spur above. The flat circuit passes reed beds with marsh harriers, great crested grebes and migrating herons — all 30 km from Turin.
