Lago di Antrona

Lago di Antrona fills a valley that was violently reshaped in 1642 when a mountainside collapsed and buried the village of Antronapiana, damming the river behind it. Today the lake sits a startling turquoise-green beneath the peaks of the Antrona Nature Park, with a trail circling through larch and alder to the inlet streams. Chamois graze the open slopes above the tree line.
