Conversano & its karst lakes
Puglia
Conversano sits on the last rise of the Murgia before the coast, its skyline made of a Norman-Aragonese castle and the domed cathedral. Around it a handful of endorheic lakes — Lago di Sassano and its neighbours — fill in wet years, drawing herons and stilts and giving an easy walk in a landscape you don't expect in Apulia.
