Isernia — La Pineta prehistoric site

Excavations here have uncovered a lakeside living surface of the Lower Palaeolithic — stone tools among the bones of bison, elephant, rhino and bear — protected under a large shelter with a museum. Paths around it cross the terrace above the Sant'Elena stream.
