Isola di San Domino — Sentiero del Gabbiano

San Domino is the largest of the Tremiti Islands 25 km off the Molise-Puglia coast. Its interior is covered in old-growth Aleppo pine forest — a rare habitat in the Adriatic. The cliff circuit trail passes grottos, sea-arches and a viewpoint over the entire archipelago. The loggerhead sea turtle nests on the beaches; Eleonora's falcon breeds on the surrounding cliffs. Ovid was exiled here by Augustus.
