Isola Polvese
Umbria
Reached by a short ferry from the mainland, this island is the biggest of Trasimeno's three and the only one managed entirely as a public park. Olive terraces, a ruined medieval castle, and an abandoned monastery dot the interior, while the shoreline offers quiet swimming spots away from the lake's busier towns. It's a favorite for a slow, car-free half-day away from the mainland.
