Gallinara, once home to a medieval abbey and named for the wild hens the Romans found there, is now a regional nature reserve closed to casual landing. The coast path around Capo San Sebastiano from Alassio gives the classic view of it, and sea kayaks can circle its cliffs and gull colonies.
