Ustica is a tiny volcanic island 60 km north of Palermo with Italy's first marine reserve (1987). The black lava coastline has sea arches, underwater caves and the clearest water in the Tyrrhenian. The island circuit trail circles the cliffs past ancient tuna traps and Spanish fortifications.
