Salina is the greenest of the Aeolian Islands, its two extinct volcanic cones covered in forest. Fossa delle Felci (962 m) is the highest point in the archipelago. The approach through Malvasia vineyards and caper terraces reaches the summit crater filled with ancient ferns — the 'fossa delle felci' that gives it its name.
